If you want to make real progress in Path of Exile, you can't treat mapping like a slow crawl. Currency comes from repetition, not from standing still and duelling every rare on the screen. That's why fast clear builds always win out over clunky ones, and why so many players end up looking at poecurrency options when they want to keep their atlas moving instead of stalling out in the early grind.
Builds that actually feel fast
Some setups just make farming easier. Lightning Arrow Deadeye is still one of the smoothest choices around because it wipes packs before they ever get close, and Mirage Archer keeps the pressure on while you keep running. Tornado Shot Deadeye asks for more gear, sure, but once it gets going, the screen clears in a blink and map pace goes through the roof. If you'd rather play something less twitchy, Righteous Fire Juggernaut is still a great pick. You pop in, shield charge ahead, and things die around you without much fuss. Then there's Essence Drain with Contagion on Trickster, which still has that old-school charm. Two buttons, one spread, and half the map falls over.
Stop wasting time on the wrong stuff
A lot of players lose money in tiny ways and don't even notice. The first one is loot. If your filter is too loose, you're basically choosing to stop every few seconds for junk. Tighten it up. Make the good drops obvious and let the rest disappear. The second one is map choice. Open layouts like Strand or Dunes feel better because they don't force awkward backtracking. You just move forward and kill. That's what you want. On top of that, don't spend ages rolling maps unless a mod bricks your build. Most of the time, an alch-and-go approach is enough. The point is volume. More maps done usually beats one perfectly rolled map done slowly.
League mechanics and movement matter more than people think
If you're trying to farm quickly, pick mechanics that add monsters fast. Legion is excellent. Breach is too. Delirium can be worth it if your build can handle the pace. What you don't want is content that drags you into long phases, slow arenas, or boss fights that feel like a chore. That kind of thing kills momentum. Movement speed matters just as much. Boots with proper speed rolls, a Quicksilver flask with strong uptime, and a movement skill that feels natural all make a huge difference over a long session. You really notice it after ten or twenty maps. The faster build isn't always the one with bigger damage on paper. It's often the one that never has to stop.
Keeping the farm going
The best farming strategy is the one you can repeat without burning out. That's why simple, reliable setups usually beat fancy plans that look amazing for three maps and then become annoying. Keep your loot filter strict, run maps with clean layouts, and don't obsess over squeezing value out of every single mechanic. If your atlas is drying up or your gear is lagging behind, using eznpc for currency and items can help smooth out the rough patch, especially when you just want to stay in the rhythm of mapping instead of spending all night trying to patch holes in your build.
